There is no strict boundary between the nonwoven fabric industry and the papermaking and wallpaper industries. In fact, some of the processes used in the nonwoven fabric industry are also papermaking processes. It is very necessary for the specialty paper industry to combine its own technology with the technology of related industries.
The development of high-speed trains requires two types of special paper, one is insulating paper and the other is aramid paper honeycomb. Insulating boards are now very expensive. With the localization of high-speed trains, the market for insulating paper will be very large. High-speed trains with speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour require extensive use of aramid paper honeycomb. Because aramid paper honeycomb can help high-speed trains reduce energy consumption and noise.
The most important point for the industry to develop special paper is to enable products or industries to use other materials, such as paper instead of plastic. We have done a lot of work in this regard. Imagine extending the industrial chain from paper and cardboard to high-end physical materials to produce paper ultrafiltration membranes, permeable membranes, etc.; using paper ropes to produce paper yarns, etc. needed by the textile industry; and processing paper materials into materials similar to cloth structures., to replace cloth. If this can be done, the specialty paper industry has a lot of room for development.

Aramid paper is also used to make aircraft, and the amount is very large. Aramid paper is also used on U.S. aircraft carriers, and one ton of Aramid paper is used for an aircraft carrier. As the use increases, the market for aramid paper will become larger and larger.
At present, my country uses inorganic fibers to develop paper and cardboard with fire resistance and heat insulation functions. The principle of using inorganic fibers to produce cardboard can be combined with other materials to make plates, and special paper can be developed using organic fibers such as PP and PE. Research in this area has also further promoted the development and progress of the insulating paper industry. However, it is impossible to complete all this by relying solely on the strength of a small team. It must be integrated with disciplines such as materials and chemistry for joint research and development. It must take advantage of the advantages of multiple disciplines to jointly tackle key problems and innovate collaboratively. In terms of applied research, we closely integrate the needs of the factory and adopt the “walking on two legs” approach. On the one hand, we conduct cutting-edge research, and on the other hand, we do some short, simple and fast research projects based on the urgent needs of the factory.
